About UK Hotels |
There are hundreds of hotels in the UK that cater for a range of budgets in a variety of locations.
For convenience, many people, particularly business travellers, opt for a central city or town centre location. This choice of location generally places you within easy reach of the local bars and restaurants as well as public transport and tourist attractions.
However, choosing a location outside the hustle of the city can give you the best of both worlds, with a tranquil and relaxing place to wake up in, but within reach of all that the town or city has to offer.
Hotels in the UK are rated in terms of their quality, and given a number of stars to show how good they are. Hotels can have a minimum of one star and a maximum of five, with the higher numbers going to hotels that have more facilities. The star ratings can be used as a guide to compare accommodation in a town or city, but may not be as accurate when it comes to comparing accommodation in different places.
Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the UK, as well as guesthouses and other smaller types of accommodation, are generally not judged using this star rating system. There are a few different systems used for them including diamonds and crowns, but they work in a similar way, for example the English Tourist Board awards diamonds according to the facilities on offer and the quality of the accommodation.
Other varieties of accommodation that are available in the UK include, farm-stays, Pubs and Inns, farmhouses, University campuses and halls of residence, campsites, caravan sites, cottages, castles and stately homes. |
