Infoserve welcomes new recruits but still wants more

Local search and online business directory specialist Infoserve has welcomed 44 new recruits, following its successful open days held at the end of May. However it still wants more people to join the rapidly expanding company.
The open days were held as part of the company’s on-going recruitment drive but also to help Garlands’ employees to get straight back into work, following the closure of its call centres across the North East.
Darlington-based Infoserve reports that 40% of the new recruits are ex-Garlands employees.
Although the company was hoping more Garlands employees would attend the interviews, it is still pleased with the calibre of those who have started with the company.
“With so many people losing their jobs in the shock announcement made by Garlands last month we acted quickly to try and get those affected by the closure straight back into work,” said Mark Riley, sales director at Infoserve.
“The support we received from the local media was fantastic and it attracted some great candidates, some of whom have not worked in the sector before. It is a shame that more Garlands staff did not come along but that may be down to the fact they were left reeling from the closures. However the people we have recruited have shown excellent potential and will receive full training from us.
