Infoserve, one of the UK’s leading online search specialists, has tracked a huge surge in people looking for mortgage brokers on the internet.
Data from Infoserve’s local search directories, which receive 32 million hits a month, has recorded a 94 per cent increase in the number of searches for ‘mortgage advisers’ since September 2008.
The results reflect a recent report from the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, which also announced a 49 per cent rise in mortgage and secured loan arrears enquiries.
Commenting on the figures, Infoserve’s head of product, Richard Lee said,
“It may be that the unstable economic outlook has created a lot of confusion in the market and more people are looking for advice, or the optimists may point to the ‘green shoots’ in the housing market for the increase in activity.
“Whatever the reason, these figures certainly reinforce the power of the internet in connecting consumers with businesses, and with an increasing number of people turning to the internet to find help, those mortgage advisers who are found easily online are perfectly placed to pick up any enquiries.”

Online search specialist, Infoserve, is providing new job opportunities at its Darlington office to help with its on-going recruitment drive.
As one of only a few companies in the UK that is continuing to recruit staff in large numbers, it is now offering flexible working to cater for the rising demand for such positions.
A growing number of people have approached Infoserve recently to ask if they are able to work flexitime in order to supplement their income, as partners are either made redundant or have had their working hours reduced.
According to Infoserve’s sales director, Mark Riley, the new move will benefit both new recruits and the company.
“We are continually on the look out for conscientious and enthusiastic people to help drive the business forward and we have identified a huge pool of talent out there who can only work during school hours,” he said.
“By introducing flexible working between 9.30am and 3.00pm for example we can continue to grow our team by attracting additional high calibre people who will work alongside our full time sales staff.
“We have achieved record sales in the last few months as more companies realise they need to promote their business on the internet. We are in a great position to help them as we have exclusive contracts with the two biggest search engines, Google and Yahoo!, as well as having our own online business directory city-visitor.com, which receives more than four million visitors a month.”
Further information about flexitime working is available by calling Infoserve’s recruitment hotline on 0845 3677500.
