 | Situated in North Wales, Bangor is one of the smallest cities in the UK, with a population of about 20,000 – a third of which are students at the University of Wales, Bangor.
The city first came into being in the early 6th century when the Celtic saint Deiniol founded Bangor Cathedral.
Of course, the original Bangor Cathedral has long since disappeared and the present cathedral only dates back to the 16th century (although modifications have been made to it over the years).
There is much more Bangor than its university and cathedral, the city is also allegedly home to the longest high street in Wales, while two rivers, the River Adda and the River Cegin also run through the within its boundaries.
Bangor is also protected on the south side by Bangor Mountain, which prevents some parts of the high street from receiving any direct sunlight during the winter months.
Attractions in Bangor include Penrhyn Castl, which plays host to large collection of dolls |
